“It is clear that Clayton isn’t afraid to assume a leadership role. Clayton identifies areas needed for adjustment/improvement and suggests a game plan to make the necessary changes.” - Rob, Former Manager

Over the years I have managed all different types of teams. It could be soldiers, office staff, trainers or a sales team, my strategy always has a few tenets that remain the same.

Have a System

Have the right people with right attitude in the right place. In other words, choose your team wisely. It is important to establish a way of doing business, a standard that everyone on the team can emulate. Things will not always go smoothly but with a leadership and management system in place it will certainly make it easier to get back on track. Ultimately, find a way to get your people to buy into your system.

Lead from the Front

Simply put, never ask your people to do something you wouldn’t do yourself. Being the leader means getting in the trenches and performing the everyday tasks when necessary. Give the team an example when it makes sense to let them know you won't ask them to complete tasks that you consider beneath you.

Always Delegate

Empower your people to gain a vested interest in the outcome. It is impossible to do it all by yourself, and a great leader should not attempt to do so. Teach, monitor, and let your team shine. However, never forget who is ultimately responsible for the Success or Failure.
